With One Voice responds to the needs of the sector by commissioning research.
International Arts and Homelessness Literature Review
- A critical analysis of the literature on arts and homelessness, bringing together, for the first time, evidence of the impact of this sector. It will summarise the main findings from a wide range of sources from government papers, reports by arts/homelessness projects, academic articles, books or campaigning materials. We hope this review will be a valuable resource to help the sector make the case more strongly about the impact of their work. Written by Phyllida Shaw. To be published in 2019
International Review of Cultural Spaces’ Responses to Homelessness
- Cultural spaces around the world from libraries to museums are deepening their civic duty and want to deepen access to and involvement with people who are or have been homeless. There is no shared practice about how cultural spaces can involve and include homeless people so we have commissioned a review of case studies to share good practice or lessons than can be shared more widely. This will lead to a 'Toolkit' and training package in partnership with Museum of Homelessness. Written by Phyllida Shaw. To be published in 2019
Cultural Spaces and Design Handbook
- Inspired by the Cultural Spaces' Review above, we were approached by the Manchester School of Architecture and Laing O'Rourke to partner on a project to improve access to homeless people for mew cultural spaces. This has resulted in the first ever Design Guide for architects and planners who are interested in designing spaces to be as inclusive as possible to homeless people, co-designed with members of the Manchester Street Poem and With One Voice (download below).
